Our story

tmbr.

Two words live in the name. This is what they mean, and why we built a platform around them.

The word itself

Timbre

/ˈtam-bər/ · noun

The character or quality of a musical sound that makes it unmistakably its own.

It is what makes a cello sound like a cello, even when playing the same note as a violin. It is the grain in a singer’s voice, the warmth in a room’s acoustic, the something that cannot be copied.

Every business has one.

The double meaning

There are two words living in the name.

Timbre

is the voice. The character that makes your work yours.

Timber

is the material. Real wood, shaped by hand, weight-bearing. Every great space is built from it.

Tmbr is both: the voice and the room. The tone and the structure. A platform that gives your business a sound the world remembers, and the back office to carry the weight of a real business.

What we saw in the market

Most software makes everyone sound the same.

We looked at the tools that small studios, coworking spaces, yoga studios, galleries, and creative venues were using to run their businesses. What we found was fragmentation.

Five tools. Six logins. A Squarespace site that does not know about your Eventbrite events. A Mailchimp list that does not know about your members. A booking tool that does not know about your billing.

And somewhere in the noise, the thing that made your space worth building in the first place.

Tmbr is tuned the other way: one calm instrument that amplifies your voice instead of flattening it.

Who this is for

We built Tmbr for the people who make spaces worth being in.

The yoga teacher who opened a studio because she believed in what practice does for people.

The founder who turned a warehouse into a creative hub and watched a community grow around it.

The maker who runs a gallery, hosts openings, rents studio space to other artists, and somehow also has to manage the website, the newsletter, and the membership payments.

The coworking space operator who got into this for the human side of it and found himself spending forty percent of his week on admin.

These are people with remarkable things to say about their work. They just needed a system that lets them say it, and handles the rest quietly.

The commitment

We build for the long term.

We do not take a percentage of your revenue. We do not raise prices on existing customers without warning. We do not lock you into contracts you cannot leave.

Your success is the product. We earn our place in your business by making it easier to run, every month.

From timber, a space. From space, a sound.
